When I find something I love, I want to wear it all the time. Like many other creatures of habit, I have to consciously stop myself from flogging my favourite things to death. Like my favourite plaited chain wreath necklace. I wore it with everything from a crappy t-shirt to an evening dress and people always commented on it. It even dressed up those lazy day outfits, you know the ones. It was the perfect bit of added excellence. Oh how I loved it!
Sadly, I couldn’t stop myself from wearing it to death…I literally killed it by wearing it day in and day out and forgetting it was actually a fragile piece of jewellery and not a chain from the hardware store. I was devastated! I even kept it’s remains hoping I could fix it, to no avail.
A few weeks ago it occurred to me to try and get another one from the company we got them from in the first place. Miraculously they had some in stock, and now I am once again re-united with my old friend, albeit it’s clone. I have been much more gentle this time, and am treasuring it’s excellence even more.
The moral of this story? There’s actually two:
- A simple yet striking piece of jewellery can be your best friend…every girl should have a piece that feels like it can take any outfit from glum to glam. It doesn’t have to be expensive, my wreath necklace certainly wasn’t, it just has to be awesome.
- When you love love love something and you can afford it, get two! Men do this all the time, and they’re onto something…no regrets!
